Gosh, this is a beautiful country!!

Not a lot of words tonight.  Tired and going to crawl into bed.  I wanted to share some pictures on here that I have been taking via Instagram.  I have been sharing pictures on there every now and then.. while we have cell phone service along the mountain highways that is!

Best day ever today!  HELICOPTER ride through the mountains!! ACK!  Been a long time dream!  SO worth it, so gorgeous… saw white mountain goats along a mountain peak.. oh wow you guys… a dream come true!

Nighty night friends!  Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

It is crunch time.. as in unofficial departure day being May 5th!  Ack!  ..and yes, I said early planning stages! Ahhh!

Total travel time from here to the coast is 16 (and a bit) hours.  But I am pretty sure we are going to break that down into 3 days.. 2 overnight stops between Grande Prairie and Vancouver.  I think.  The only thing we have planned so far is the route.. we are going to head to Jasper, then on to Kamloops.. Whistler etc.  ..and possibly thinking of taking another route on the way home.

We have a total ‘let’s wing it’ attitude.. stop at as many random stops along the way as we want, make getting there as fun as being there… an adventure.  We have two kids in tow… so it has to be a grand adventure, right!?

That being said.. I know we do have to have some things planned.. the must see/do stuff.  That my friends is why I am here asking for help… has anyone done a road trip through here?  Is there anything we CAN NOT miss out on? Family friendly stuff?  We don’t mind getting off the beaten path and heading out of the tourist traps lol!

Adventure right?

We have 10 days set aside for this… 10 days of keeping our munchkins entertained! ;)  Me and google are going to become  very good friends this week! ha ha!  Seriously though.. any tips, spots, hotels… anything that is totally awesome.. would love to hear about it!!

…just so so so happy to be checking something off of our dearest someday list!!  Can not wait to see this part of our amazing country!

I thought I was being so smart.. I found these lights for what I thought was a steal on kijiji.  Now, don’t get me wrong.. I still paid quite a bit for them, but not as much as new.. far from it.  I saw them and immediately had a plan.. you see, I thought they were all hanging pendant lights. Thought.. being the key word there.  I had this plan of hanging the three of them as a trio over our kitchen island.

I knew I wanted something unique there.. and after seeing a magazine cover ages ago (can’t track it down now to share..).. I had a ‘tumbleweed’ vision in my head.  Sounds crazy yes.  So, you can imagine my excitement when I spotted these in the online classifieds.. at a fraction of retail price.

So I went and met the seller in a parking lot to make the cash for lift fixture exchange.. should have took that as a warning that this was feeling all wrong! ha ha!  ..at least it should have been.

I brought home the three quite large boxes.. yes each light was in a box.  Not the box they came in, but a box nonetheless.  The good news, is that I am not completely stupid… I did open one of these boxes in the back of the strangers car, and yes.. it was the beautiful yet funky (and totally crazy) ceiling pedant I was hoping for. Sold!  I didn’t even try to get her down in price.. that always makes me feel like I am being rude or something. ha ha!

Being totally pumped like I was, I couldn’t wait to get home and get them out!  Even though hubby was away at work and wouldn’t be home for weeks upon weeks at that point.. I just wanted to get them out to look at them, so I could picture all three of them hanging above our island.  I was so pumped that I actually found this vision I had in my head.. for a steal on kijiji!  So so so smart I was! ha ha!

Until I opened boxes two and three…

Um yeah.. not so smart after all.

Yep, that is a table lamp you see.. as is the other… two table lamps.   They aren’t going to hang very well, are they?  Seriously?  Seriously seriously seriously!??  How could I not have thought to check all three boxes before handing over the cash!?  SERIOUSLY!?  ugh.  So, I did what anyone with too much pride would do… plopped this baby on my desk and made it like I totally planned it this way! ha ha! ;)  ..too much pride, or just the right amount?

Ah well.. too good to be true I guess.  Although, the idea of the trio of tumbleweed lights.. (they are kind of dandelion-ish too actually) hasn’t completely left my mind.  Still wondering if there is a way to have them all wired to make a hanging trio contraption. ha ha!  What do you think.. worth it?  Or leave them as is?

Kind of can’t believe I am coming clean about this on here.  ha!  ..worst part is, I don’t even know if the ad was misleading or if I was just reading it how I wanted… ad was gone off the internet by the time I made it home.  ..and the pride thing kicked in again and I couldn’t bring myself to contact the seller and as if they would take pity on me and take them back.

Seriously.. addicted.  The best part, it has inspired me beyond these photo prompts.. I find I am wanting to take quick pictures of all kinds of random things.  I love it.  I love feeling inspired like this, or obsessive.. ha ha, however you want to look at it. hee!

OK.. it has to be said, younger me?  Oh my gosh.. I look like a baby! ha ha!  That was me at about 16 I think? …and I thought I knew everything! ha!

It started with James and his RC (not the one pictured below.. he has a couple now).  Then we bought Laine one when she was 5 or 6.. and now Harley got one for his birthday last week.  ..and me, none as of yet, but that might change soon… because honestly, it is a lot of fun.

Especially now that it is spring.. and we have a sub division development behind us… big open space to play!

Oh gosh, do I ever love shooting into the sun!

..hmmmm, it seems our hobbies go hand in hand… three radio controls and one camera!  ..maybe I don’t need my own after all.

I do love that these three have this hobby together, it is so cute watching them get the cars ready, and driving them out of the garage… and then carrying them home with batteries drained… then getting them ready for next time.  Glad to report that there have only been a few trips to the hobby shop for replacement parts so far this year, although last I heard.. James’ needed some work. ;)
