dearest someday » for the dreamers, the free spirited and the adventurous

It didn’t really come as much of a surprise to me.. but one of my goals for this brand new year is to get back into scrapbooking.  I miss it terribly.. which is why I wasn’t all that shocked when it topped the list of goals for 2013.

I even *gasp.. ordered some supplies for my very first project life album!  Can you believe it!? hee! Unfortunately I was a little late in deciding to take the plunge and place an order.. which I did just a few days ago.  Oh well.. better late than never I always say.  Hopefully within a few weeks I can get started!  In the mean time, I will be taking lots of pictures and collecting stuff.

To fill my craving.. I did play with some paper today.  I made a scrapbook page using some recent photos from Harley’s Christmas concert last month… felt so very good.

I used the autumn frost embellishment kit from my shop.. and some other scrapbooking goodies I had on hand. Yes, it has been ages since I bought anything new and exciting.  Although, after I place my project life order the other day.. I placed a 2 Peas order as well!  First one in nearly 2 years!  GASP!

..still not sure how I let that much time go by.

I have to admit though, while creating the few pages that I have in recent months.. it has been very refreshing to not really care all that much if what I am using is new and hot.. or current trend… just creating.  That being said.. with my experience in the scrapbooking industry, that part of me is counting down the days until my order comes in the mail! hee!  Yeah, I still like new goodies… what can I say?   The funny part though.. I am not even sure just how new and hot anything that I ordered really is! ha!  ..it will however be very new to me.

Yay!  ..scrapbooking.. I love you.

Louise Ingram - Something about this page is so serene and peaceful. It’s completely not my style at all but I had a go at scraplifting it (and linked to this post from my blog, of course). I’m glad you’re getting back into scrapbooking and I’m looking forward to seeing what you post this year. Thank you, LouiseReplyCancel

Over the weekend, the munchkins and I took a bit of a time out, and went wandering.  We ended up at a beautiful local park.. they played in the leaves, while I took pictures.  It was a photo date.. they knew it, and surprisingly.. loved it!  My oldest has hit an age where she really would prefer no photos.. but nope,  not this weekend.. she was soaking it up, and so was I!  ..and my youngest… well, he is still all about getting his picture taken!

Here are just a few of my favourites..

Gosh, I love them.

I want her Minnetonka boots… and she wants my Lune head wrap.  Think we could trade every now and then?  ..her boots do fit me.. hmmmmm. hee!  Yes, I dressed them matchy matchy.. and yes, we brought feathers… but oh my gosh, it was so fun!

All pictures were shot with my Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8.  In love with this lens.  Especially with the kids, I find I get get them at their most casual.. they are more relaxed, I can back off a bit.. and get the shot I am after. Such a dream!!

xoxo

Hello friends! Sharing a fun little project today… I have finally completed a tutorial that I came across on pinterest!  Not sure this has ever happened before!  Thousands of pins later.. and I think this just might be the first tutorial I have actually completed!

YAY!

Here is my very own wire deer head!  ..created following this terrific step by step!

I made him last night.. with wire I found in my husbands tool box, 16 gauge I believe.  In all, I think he took a few hours to make.. this is with me talking on the phone for a good part of it! ha!  I needed wire cutters, and a pair of pliers to help bend some of the ends in.  That is it!

He hung out in a few places since last night.. but in the end (for now anyway), I hung him above the pantry door in the kitchen.  With just a tiny nail.. I didn’t add a special loop or anything, just set it on the nail and he hangs perfectly!  I was actually surprised at how stable and ‘not fragile’ he is.. yes, if you sat on him, it would be horrific, but he stays in place… antlers stay up etc!

I love how he is so subtle.  He is there.. but not there, know what I mean?  Some rustic texture… but not in your face.  Another faux deer head on the wall.. but he isn’t screaming “hey! just how many deer heads can Jen hang in one house!?” ha ha!

Looking for a weekend project!?  I say DO IT!  Check out these step by step photo instructions.. which I followed pretty much exactly!  ..I think the only thing I really did different, was add eyes!  So fun!  ..best part is, it could very easily be a free project (if you have wire around).. or at the most only a few dollars!

Now I am inspired to look and see what other tutorials I have pinned.. I could be on a roll!  ..hmmmm, does one project count as being on a roll? ha ha!

xoxo

Nora - I have an unreasonable amount of love for faux deer heads too and absolutely love how this came out!ReplyCancel

cinback - Ok, so, this is very cool. I love all that you have shared in your home. The chalkboard wall, the lampshade, the little white forest animals, the paint-by-number collection. You are too cool! And I am totally into your colour palette…neutrals are my fave. And I think painting the kitchen cart mint is brilliant!

Unfortunately, my family doesn’t appreciate this look too much. When I started collecting doilies for a table runner my girls thought I was turning all granny on them. And the deer antler that I set on the coffee table…ya, my hubbie uses it as a back-scratcher. Not cool.

So, I am living vicariously through you…ReplyCancel

Feeling inspired.

Yes.. by paint by number, the vintage kind.  Landscapes.. trees and deer.  Loving it.  Have you seen the large paint by number murals that have been floating around the internet for quite some time?  So inspiring.. makes me want to collect a bunch of paints, set up the overhead projector and fill up an entire wall.

sources: mural wall (katie’s pencil box), collection (via bhg), paint by number wall (via poppytalk), we are all connected (Jen Renninger)

Also, very excited to share the beginnings of my very own paint by number collection!  I finally committed to hanging something on the one and only wide open wall in our living room!  This is big! lol  I was scared to put anything here.

The best part.. there is a whole wall of possibilities here, I am thinking it would be fun to slowly fill it all up!  I layered the one behind the television, in an attempt to soften it up a little bit.

Yep, I see more here eventually.  Layering more in behind.. someday.  That is the beauty of a collection, it takes time!  But, I am officially on the hunt! ;)

..now, do I go ahead and paint a complementing wall somewhere? hee heee!

Maybe!
