dearest someday » for the dreamers, the free spirited and the adventurous

Every now and then, me and this girl go on little adventures.  The good for the soul kind of adventures.  We grab our coffees (ok, coffee for me.. frappuccino for her) and we head out to find the perfect location for little mini shoots.

This time, we explored our way into the woods.. and it is one of my favourite locations to date!

My new space.  It makes me insanely happy.

I love the simplicity, the openness, and most of all.. I am loving the new white walls.  When I first began emptying out the room, I became overwhelmed very quickly.. how could I get this space to work as a photography studio?

After some rearranging of furniture, and parting with craft and art supplies that were no longer needed.. I managed to get it to happen! ..and I couldn’t be more excited!

I needed this room to work as a functioning work space for day to day use.. editing, working on products for the shop, and of course a space to take photos if I need to.  All while having it blend with our home and not have it screaming.. at home photography studio!

Obviously, I knew that I would not have the room for large groups of people.. but that isn’t what I was wanting anyway.  Needed just enough room to take newborn and baby photos, or children’s portraits.

It isn’t a huge wall, but when needed.. it will work perfectly!

A girl can dream.. and trust me, this one does! ha!

Who wouldn’t dream of having a cute little boutique studio downtown?  Well, maybe not everyone.. but ohhh the ideas I have! lol  Then there is the realistic side, which is easily remembered as I am running out the door to pick up kids, take them here.. take them there.  Maybe someday having a studio outside of the home will be ideal, but for now.. I am quite content with an at home work space, that works around my crazy odd ball hours!

I will post pictures of the room in full photo session mode soon.. eats up a lot of room, but it works!

So many evolving ideas and plans.. hee!

*edited to add.. white paint is ivory mist by behr at home depot!

Amanda - Looks beautiful Jen!! And I bet a little shop designed by you would be equally as beautiful, but totally get why that can’t happen yet. We have so much more freedom now.. but still seems like we spend all day planning for the night! Every time I see your Effektiv I wish they still carried it! Mine could use some add on pieces! darn!ReplyCancel

I came across this image this morning, and instantly fell in love.  It was taken last fall, and it reminds me so very much of the fleeting moments of childhood.  Time passes so quickly.

Love that.

This girl.. gosh, I love her.

Last weekend, we packed up some props.. grabbed some yummy starbucks and headed out into the fresh snow to take some pictures.  The best kind of day!  I must admit, photo shoots with her are one of my most favourite things in the whole entire world.

Finally, some real pictures of some of the head wraps in action!  I love how versatile they are.. they were designed with newborn/baby photography in mind, but they easily and effectively added subtle interest to this mini shoot with my almost teenager as well!

The beaded one is my favourite.

How fun is the fringe garland being used as a fancy balloon streamer!?  I love love love how this worked out! Totally pulled everything together, and instantly created a fun styled shoot!  Can’t wait to get these props out again for another shoot.. a little bit of gold and sparkle is a good thing, don’t you think?
