home tour: harley’s room

Yes!  I finally took some pictures of Harley’s room to share.. it has been a long time coming!  Hasn’t it?

The thing is, there are still a few things I want to do in here.. so I don’t want to call it ‘done’ ..but, as with everything else I do… it is taking forever to pull together the finishing touches.  So, I figured I should just go ahead and get some pictures up!  Otherwise, we will all likely be waiting a very long time! ha ha!

We chose not to set up his car bed in this house.. that thing was massive and would have swallowed up this tiny room, so… we used a pallet bed that James made instead!  We used to have this bed (along with another) in our playroom/spare room at our last house.  It is a much better fit in here.. and quite honestly, I love it 100% more!  Even Harley wasn’t sad to see the car bed go!

The room is basically based around the quilt on the bed.  I wanted a woodsy ..modern rustic look in here, in a little boy sort of way… I knew that all along, but things really started to click when I decided to use this quilt on the foot of the bed.  We have quite literally had it forever.. it was my husband’s when he was a boy, his Grandma made it for him.. so it really is very special.  Which makes it even more perfect for in here.

These sticks are pretty special too.  Harley gathered a stick at pretty much every pit stop/adventure we made on our recent road trip vacation… and we brought them all home.  I just had to do something with them!  So, I tied them together with twine and hung them up on the wall!  These sticks are from the mountains.. the ocean and everywhere in between!

Our family bunny became Harley’s officially when we moved in.  I feared that if we put him in the basement (like before) that he would get forgotten and neglected.  Harley always was the one who loved Oliver the most, so it just made sense to move him in here and let Harley call him his.  Harley looooves having Oliver in his room, every little boy needs a critter of some sort I say! hee!

Harley also inherited an Expedit bookshelf from my office… it works so perfectly in here!  The amount of toys this thing can hold is actually quite shocking!

Here is Harley’s bunny Oliver.. he is a Lion Head, and so full of personality!  If you get past the nastiness of his litter box (gosh, it seems like we clean that thing all the time!).. he really is quite a lovely pet!

Not sure how he sees through all that hair!

Well, there it is!  Putting this space together has been a lot of fun!  The goal was to create a boy space that wasn’t too cutesy, something that he could grow with, but at the same tome didn’t feel too grown up.  I think it works.. for now anyway!  I would love to add some sort of headboard above the bed.. rustic wood or something, not sure.  Maybe I’ll just leave it. lol  There are also a few other crafty tip DIY things.. all waiting for someday.  Story of my life! ha!

But hey.. at least I finally got some pictures up! hee!

A lot of the Etsy items in Harley’s room can be found here.. the pinterest board with all kinds of inspiration for this room!  So if you saw a print or stuffy you like, it is likely on there.. or feel free to leave a comment and I will do my best to help you out!
